Besides the hours spent in class each week, how much time do I need to dedicate to a course outside of the classroom?
Our full-time Immersive students also devote additional time to portfolio projects, networking events with hiring partners, career services support, and more. Either way, our courses are designed to be rigorous and intensive, but, most of all – incredibly rewarding!
What type of jobs are there in Data Science?
Large Tech Companies The Googles, Amazons and Facebooks of the world sit on a pile of usage data. They have large data teams ranging the entire span of roles to aggregate, clean and analyze their data to inform their business
High Growth Tech Startups These are the Spotify, Snapchat, Uber, Netflix, and Airbnb. They are companies that rely on technology to deliver a consumer service. They usually have smaller teams lead by one Data Scientist, a BI analyst, and an engineer
Data Consultancies/Government The government is a big employer of data roles. Government data roles are usually for "Data Analysts." Government consultancies like Accenture, Booz Allen are also often in search of data analysts and scientists.
Financial Companies Financial companies were the first to employ "data scientists" - often referred to as "quants." Quants are the economic and math PhDs. These companies will most likely have a team of quants doing data analysis and financial modeling for their company
Media/Advertising Companies Advertising, media companies collect A LOT of data and they need people to analyze that data so they can make the $$$. Places like Buzzfeed, Huffingtonpost, Gawker are all places that are building out their data teams
Non-profits - Monitoring and Evaluation Roles The great thing about data - it's everywhere! Non-profits also employ data analysts/scientists because they need to determine the efficacy of their work
